Early Bird Session - Facilitation Skills for Leaders
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Session Description: We all, at some point, have chaired meetings of staff, volunteers, colleagues, or customers. Sometimes the meetings' outcomes were met; at other times, there was frustration with the results. We vowed that 'next time' we'd do better! In this interactive session, employing techniques you can replicate in your own personal and professional lives, we'll explore facilitation tools used to enhance outcomes allowing you to gain confidence and improve productivity of meetings.

Intended audience - Anyone who ever facilitates meetings between two or among three or more people and wants to improve their performance and meeting outcomes.

Learner Outcomes -
1. Gain an appreciation of participation styles;
2. Develop better agenda-setting techniques; and
3. Have fun while increasing confidence and skills.

Luncheon - Planners and Business Partners Preparing Together for Contingencies
11:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Session Description - To paraphrase Bette Davis: "[Meeting planning] ain't no place for sissies." Consider these scenarios: Two days before the main arrival for a meeting and there is a prediction of massive storms. Or the power goes out in the hotel just as guests arrive. You are responsible for the safety of all those who attend meetings and events and stay at properties. Are you prepared? Have your contingency plans been coordinated with others? This must attend session will help you limit your personal and organizational risk. Through interactive exercises, we'll explore how meeting planners and vendors can work together to minimize risk from site selection forward.

Intended Audience - This program is for you if you: Plan or manage any meetings or events, are a supplier who provides facilities or services for meetings and events, are an association manager or executive who wants to know more about managing risk.

Learner Outcomes -
1. Anticipate questions to ask when selecting a vendor, inspecting a site, or providing a proposal, for a meeting or event.
2. Determine the level of risk inherent in meetings and their ancillary activities;
3. Better prepare to manage risky situations.
